The paper presents the results of sporo-pollen analysis of the cultural layer at Shchurovo cemetery. The data allow characterizing the landscapes that formed in the vicinity of the site during the first millennium AD and tracing the dynamics of humidity and the inf luence of climate and human activity. On the basis of the data we can conclude that the 1st millennium AD in the Oka river basin was characterized by a warm and humid climate that was favorable for the growth of broad-leaved forests. In the 8th century the climate became colder and the site fell into disuse.
