Finds of bone and horn artefacts are scarce at Old Russian sites. Three carved pectoral crosses of the 15th–16th centuries were encountered in the course of fieldwork at the Zhitnyy excavation area of the Pereyaslavl Ryazanskiy kremlin. They differ in the quality of carving being a master craftsman’s and an apprentice’s handiwork. It implies the existence of a bone-carving workshop manufacturing works of art at Pereyaslavl Ryazanskiy.
