Keywords: the Dnieper region, the Southeast Baltic region, East European champlevé enamels, the period of Roman influence.
The article is the first part in the publication of the circle of East European champlevé enamel objects from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum. It required a comprehensive archaeological, chemical and technological analysis. The publication gives a detailed description of the objects, provides latest data on their chronology, clarifies some details that were missing or erroneously given in previous publications of some of the objects. One of the essential chronological issues of this circle of antiquities is the mismatch of the dates suggested for different parts of the area of objects with enamels, probably related to the degree of development of local chronological systems.
