The article focused on the studies of jewellery from Old Ryazan is a tribute to the 200th anniversary of finding the first hoard focused there (1822) which marked the beginning of research on medieval Russian towns, the mainstream of studies in the Russian antiquities. The author considers individual manner of the craftsman (peculiar features of the images of beasts, birds, humans and elements of ornament, as well as specific technical details) who fulfilled orders of the princely dynasty members. His masterpieces were unearthed in four hoards (1950, 1966, 1970, 2005). The 2013 hoard included not only decorations but also jeweller’s raw materials and tools (bronze dies). Some evidence points to the presence of a major jewellery workshop of Grand Princes in the nearest vicinity.
